How it connects
What direct means
WebRTC encrypts browser connections in transit. An encrypted relay may forward traffic when a direct connection is unavailable. Direct file contents are not stored.
Transfer details such as names, sizes and relay usage are recorded according to workspace settings, and peers may see each other’s IP address. There is no additional application-level end-to-end encryption.
- Encrypted in transit
- Direct when possible
- Relay when needed
- Files not stored
Important
Know before you send
Both browsers must remain online. File-size and saving support vary by browser. Monthly transfer counts and relay allowance apply; direct bytes do not use relay allowance.

FAQ
Transfer questions
Yes. Sending requires an account and workspace, so transfers have history, rules and limits.
Yes, unless the workspace rules require recipients to sign in.
Sharing stops for every recipient. Files are read from your device while the tab is open; nothing is kept on a server to resume from.
Your plan sets the monthly transfer count, relay allowance and maximum file size. Only bytes forwarded by the encrypted relay count towards the relay allowance. Browsers also differ in how large a file they can save.
